"If your checks aren't correctly numbered, it will take you more time to put them in the correct order than actually print them." |
|
|
Sometimes we don't think about the
importance of check numbering order.
That is until the Pay to the Order of and
Check Amount prints on the back of the
check Or, the actual check number doesn't
match the number in the software.
Then, every time checks are printed they
have to be completely rearranged.
This occurs when the check numbering
order doesn't match how your printer
accepts paper.
This little procedure will help you make
sure your checks go into your printer in
the same order they come out of the box.
1. Put two pieces of paper that already
have printing on one side into your printer
with the printed side facing up.
2. Print any document.
3. Check to see (a) which sheet of paper went into the printer first. The sheet on top or the sheet on the bottom, and (b) did the new document overprint the side that already had printing or did it print on the blank side.
1. Top page went first - overprint
2. Bottom page went first - overprint
3. Top page went first - blank side printed
4. Bottom page went first - blank side printed
If your answer is:
1. Standard ascending
2. Standard descending
3. Reverse ascending
4. Reverse descending
